The removal of the invasive species ๐๐ฆ๐ฅ๐บ๐ค๐ฉ๐ช๐ถ๐ฎ ๐จ๐ข๐ณ๐ฅ๐ฏ๐ฆ๐ณ๐ช๐ข๐ฏ๐ถ๐ฎ continues in Lagoa do Caiado, in Pico island!
These works, carried out by LIFE BEETLES project in several intervention areas, aim to improve the habitat for the island’s target species, the ๐๐ด๐ฆ๐ถ๐ฅ๐ข๐ฏ๐ค๐ฉ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ฆ๐ฏ๐ถ๐ด ๐ข๐ฑ๐ต๐ช๐ฏ๐ฐ๐ช๐ฅ๐ฆ๐ด. The main outbreaks of this invasive plant have already been ticked and removed.
Throughout this project, the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Change ensures the proper monitoring of these areas in order to control the resurgence of this invasive species and assess the regeneration of native species in the area.
These works fall within the scope of Action C.1 – Improvement of the habitat quality for Tarphius floresensis,ย Pseudanchomenus aptinoides and Trechus terrabravensis.
