The invasive flora species have a strong dispersion ability, being very competitive and able to put at risk the biodiversity of ecosystems in which they are present.

It is the case of Ribeira do Fundรฃo (stream), a ๐˜ฉ๐˜ข๐˜ฃ๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜ข๐˜ต that was highly rundown and where the Ironclad Beetle lives, endemic to the island of Flores.

The Government of the Azores has started a great effort to recover these ๐˜ฉ๐˜ข๐˜ฃ๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜ข๐˜ต through invasive flora removal actions, such as this example carried out by the LIFE BEETLES project, with very positive results, as demonstrated with this intervention.
