The invasive flora species have a strong dispersion ability, being very competitive and able to put at risk the biodiversity of ecosystems in which they are present.
It is the case of Ribeira do Fundão (stream), a 𝘩𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘵 that was highly rundown and where the Ironclad Beetle lives, endemic to the island of Flores.
The Government of the Azores has started a great effort to recover these 𝘩𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘵 through invasive flora removal actions, such as this example carried out by the LIFE BEETLES project, with very positive results, as demonstrated with this intervention.
