The LIFE BEETLES project has been working to restore habitat areas for the target species Ironclad Beetle in Ribeira do Fundão, on the island of Flores, by removing invasive flora species and planting endemic species.
For the plantations to be successful, regular maintenance is required. To this end, the team of field workers weeds the weeds that grow around the endemic species so that they don’t harm the plantations, thus allowing the endemic species to develop properly.
