The LIFE BEETLES project, coordinated by the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Change, has developed a board game, BEETLES & Companhia, intending to raise awareness among students in the Region of the importance of insects and provide a little more information about the world of arthropods.
The game was created within the scope of action E.1. of the project, which aims to communicate and raise public awareness of nature conservation and stimulate interest in entomology in a didactic and fun way.
BEETLES & Company features 10 different characters (10 arthropods), including the 3 endemic beetles targeted by the project, incorporating the specific characteristics of each one and motivating students to learn more about the ecological relationships of these living beings, among themselves and with their environment. Through special superpowers, attack and defence methods, the game aims to make the chosen arthropod survive to the end of the maze. The course of the game is a constant analogy with the environmental threats these animals face in the real world.

In the long term, the game will be available to all schools in the Region so that students and teachers can use it independently.
