The LIFE Program – L’Instrument Financier pour l’Environment – is an EU financing instrument created with the specific objective of contributing to the implementation, updating and development of European Policies and Strategies in the area of environment and climate, through co-financing with European added value.
It was created in 1992 and since then it has contributed around 3.4 billion euros to projects for the nature conservation and biodiversity, the environment, energy efficiency and governance.
The project LIFE BEETLES appear in the context of the sub-programme for traditional projects in the area of Nature and Biodiversity. On this sub-programme, projects receive funding up to 60% and provide actions for best practice, pilot and demonstration works that contribute to the implementation of the Birds Directive and Directive Habitats, as well as the European Biodiversity Strategy, and for the implementation and management of the Natura 2000 Network
