Awareness session about the endemic species Nyctalus azoreum (Azorean bat) and about the importance of insects in their feeding habits.

The Azorean Bat – Nyctalus azoreum is an insectivorous species, hunting for prey during flight. Currently, 36% of bats in Portugal are threatened, being one of the reasons the decline in the number of insects due to the excessive use of pesticides. This event aims to highlight the importance of insects in the food chains, to warn about the need to conserve habitats not only for bats, but also for their food – the insects! Join us!
