The LIFE BEETLES project recently participated in the Advisory Boards of Pico and Terceira Nature Parks, as predicted in Action F.2 – Governance and Advisory Boards.
This was an opportunity to present to the board members the development of various actions taking place on these islands, namely the controlled removal of 460 eucalyptus trees on Terceira island (next to Algar do Carvão), the planting of around 2,100 endemic plants near Lagoa do Caiado on Pico island and the removal/control of about 10 tons of invasive species in the intervention areas of Pico and Terceira.
Furthermore, some questions related to the project were also answered, especially regarding the methodologies used to combat invasive species and the possible impacts on ecosystems.
The participation in these annual meetings is an excellent tool to involve the different stakeholders in the project, as well as to promote the discussion and integration of ideas and concerns that may contribute to the dissemination and resolution of operational problems that the project may face during its implementation.
